Under the Milky Way é uma canção da banda australiana The Church, lançada como single principal de seu quinto álbum de estúdio, Starfish, em 1988. A música foi coescrita pelo vocalista e baixista Steve Kilbey e sua então parceira Karin Jansson (da banda Curious (Yellow)). Segundo Kilbey, a música foi escrita bastante rapidamente, impulsionada pela necessidade de completar o álbum. Kilbey mencionou que usou um drum machine, juntou algumas sequênci ... as de acordes e, inspirado pelo som, escreveu a letra, que evoca imagens noturnas e reflexões introspectivas.
