The stairway’s spinning down
Deep beneath the fertile ground
It tunnels through a buried town
I see all the lives I used to lead
Like scattered, petrified trees
The milestones and broken bones
Grow through the dirt ceiling
I drink the cup of the old life’s blood
But it trickles from the corner of my mouth
I wrap myself in earth
To bury the devils within the self
I’m burnt out below the day
I see my dreams begin to fray
I never wanted you to see me this way
I crumble like a serpent in the sun
Such a curse can’t come undone
All the wild moans and broken homes
Will set me off to run
Run from you
I drink the cup of the old life’s blood
But it trickles from the corner of my mouth
I wrap myself in earth
To bury the devils within the self
