Megadeth é uma banda estado-unidense de thrash metal liderada por seu fundador, o vocalista e guitarrista Dave Mustaine. O grupo foi formado em 1983, após Dave ser expulso do Metallica. Desde então, a banda lançou quatorze álbuns de estúdio, quatro álbuns ao vivo, dois EP e cinco compilações. A banda ganhou fama internacional ligeiramente. Ficou muito conhecida por sempre trocar sua formação devido aos constantes problemas de personalidade, e pe ... lo fato de que , o vocalista não queria viciados na banda em suas turnes. Após o lançamento de seu álbum estreia em 1985, a banda lançou álbuns premiados com o disco de ouro, platina e o álbum Rust in Peace (1990) é considerado a melhor realização da banda, assim como Countdown to Extinction (1992), maior sucesso de vendas e nomeado ao Grammy no mesmo ano, além de que Youthanasia (1994) manteve o bom ritmo da banda. Com os lançamentos de Cryptic Writings (1997) e Risk (1999), a banda afastou de seus lançamentos antigos, tendo quase que abandonado o thrash metal, e indo pra um lado mais heavy metal, somente com The World Needs a Hero (2001) a banda voltou às raízes do thrash metal. O grupo foi dissolvido em 2002, após Mustaine descobrir uma séria lesão no nervo do braço esquerdo, mas após dois anos de longas e exalstivas fisioterapia, Mustaine reformulou a banda decidiu voltar a ativa com o lançamento de The System Has Failed (2004). Desde então, a banda lançou outros quatro álbuns: United Abominations (2007), Endgame (2009), TH1RT3EN (2011) e Super Collider (2013). Megadeth faz parte do "Big Four of Thrash", juntamente com Metallica, Slayer e Anthrax. O grupo já vendeu mais de 50 milhões de discos no mundo5 , com destaque para os álbuns Peace Sells... But Who's Buying, So Far, So Good... So What!, Rust in Peace, Youthanasia e Cryptic Writings que já alcançaram discos de platina e já foi nomeado para 10 Grammys 6 7 .
