Was a beautiful day and I went for a drive headed south on County Road five
Haven’t seen my folks in so many weeks Should’ve seen the smiles between their cheeks
As I got home and saw you had called Said please pick up we need to talk now
When I did pick up my heart began to sink knew he had pain but how could I think
We had so much more to do, walking on the beach and getting snow in my shoe
We had so much more to do just the two of us and you.

We had so many good times for so many years all the good music and a couple of beers
Then You told me you were in pain and the next day I tried to get on a plane
but all I got from you was no thank you, I’ve got stuff to do
You kept moving up and down the coast trying to hide from that runaway ghost.

A moment later you were waiting in her line
into a world with her friends and her life

You searched and searched to see what you could find
You Left it out there for her to unwind
Was it her smile that pulled you in You gave her your signature grin
Then came the shot across the chin, like candles they are blowin in the wind
The morning is bright on the sparkling snow all I really want to know
Is the other side worth the gain were you able to ease your pain?
