The Yardbirds

The Yardbirds es un grupo de rock británico de mediados de la década de 1960s. Es una de las bandas de la llamada Invasión británica. Su estilo estuvo enfocado en una versión inglesa de lo que estaban haciendo los músicos de blues norteamericanos. La banda trabajó en colaboración con músicos de blues como Sonny Boy Williamson II. Aparte de la influencia que tuvo en la época, una de las razones por las que más se recuerda esta agrupación es porque ... de sus filas salieron 3 de los guitarristas más importantes dentro del rock en ese momento, ellos fueron: Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck y Jimmy Page. Clapton fue el primero de estos guitarristas que formó parte de la banda. Pero siendo en aquellos tiempos un purista del blues, cuando The Yardbirds decidió orientarse a un formato más pop en la música, Clapton los abandona. Posteriormente, llegará a formar parte de John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers por un tiempo, y luego Cream. Cuando The Yardbirds se disuelve, Jimmy Page formaba parte de la agrupación, y decide reunir a una nueva banda que en principio serían los "New Yardbirds". Con el tiempo esta nueva banda se llamaría Led Zeppelin. Por otro lado, Keith Relf, cantante de los Yardbirds (antes de la "nueva versión" de Jimmy Page), formaría la agrupación de folk rock y rock progresivo llamada Renaissance y posteriormente Armaggeddon.
