Lyrics of
The Killing Moon

The Killing Moon by Echo & the Bunnymen is often regarded as one of the bands crowning achievements. Vocalist Ian McCulloch has mentioned in interviews that the lyrics came to him in a dream, and he believes the track to be among the greatest songs ever written, comparing it favorably with Procol Harums Whiter Shade of Pale. The song deals with themes of fate and surrender, encapsulated in the imagery of the killing moon.

Under blue moon I saw you, so soon you'll take me
Up in your arms to late to beg you, or cancel it though I know it must be
The killing time, unwillingly mine
Fate, up against your will, through the thick and thin
He will wait until, you give yourself to him
In starlit nights I saw you, so cruelly you kissed me
Your lips a magic world, the sky all hung with jewels
The killing moon, will come too soon
Fate, up against your will, through the thick and thin
He will wait until, you give yourself to him

Under blue moon I saw you, so soon you'll take me
Up in your arms to late to beg you, or cancel it though I know it must be
The killing time, unwillingly mine
Fate, up against your will, through the thick and thin
He will wait until, you give yourself to him
Fate, up against your will, through the thick and thin
He will wait until, you give yourself to him, you give yourself to him

Fate, up against your will, through the thick and thin
He will wait until, you give yourself to him, you give yourself to him

Fate, up against your will, through the thick and thin
He will wait until, you give your self to him
Fate, up against your will, through the thick and thin
He will wait until, you give yourself to him
