Lyrics of
Riders On The Storm

Riders on the Storm is a song by the Doors, released in 1971 as part of the L.A. Woman album. It was one of the last songs recorded by the original members of the band before Jim Morrisons death. The song was inspired by a book called The Doors of Perception by Aldous Huxley, where riders on the storm symbolizes people navigating through lifes storms. There is also a reference to a killer on the road, an allusion to serial killer Billy Cook.

Riders on the storm
Riders on the storm
Into this house we're born
Into this world we're thrown
Like a dog without a bone
An actor out on loan
Riders on the storm

There's a killer on the road
His brain is squirming like a toad
Take a long holiday
Let your children play
If ya give this man a ride
Sweet memory* will die
Killer on the road, yeah

Girl ya gotta love your man
Girl ya gotta love your man
Take him by the hand
Make him understand
The world on you depends
Our life will never end
Gotta love your man, yeah
Wow!

Riders on the storm
Riders on the storm
Into this house we're born
Into this world we're thrown
Like a dog without a bone
An actor out on loan
Riders on the storm

Riders on the storm x5
* It should be noted that other versions of this song appear to say "family" instead of "memory".
