Lyrics of
Hercules - Go The Distance

Go the Distance was written by Alan Menken (music) and David Zippel (lyrics) for the 1997 Disney movie, Hercules. The song is performed by the titular character, Hercules, where he expresses his desire to prove himself a hero and find where he truly belongs in the world. The song has become iconic as one of Disney’s anthems of motivation and hope.

I have often dreamed, of a far off place
Where a Great warm welcome will be waiting for me.
Where the crowds will cheer, when they see my face
And a voice keeps saying this is where I’m meant to be;

I will find my way, I can go the distance
I'll be there someday, if I can be strong
I know ev’ry mile, will be worth my while
I would go most anywhere to feel like I belong
**See Monologue Note 1**

I am on my way, I will go the distance
I don't care how far, somehow I'll be strong
And a thousand years, would be worth the wait
It might take a lifetime, but somehow I’ll see it through.
**See "Monologue Note 2" at the bottom of Tab**

But to look beyond the glory is the hardest part
For a hero’s strength is measured by his heart

I will beat the odds, I will go the distance
I will face the world, fearless, proud, and strong
I will please the gods, I can go the distance
Til I find my hero's welcome right where I belong.
(Optional Tag Chord progression **For Theater purposes, the time used during this could
I will search the world, I will face it’s harms
Til I find my hero’s welcome, waiting in your arms
