We Three Kings

We Three Kings, also known as We Three Kings of Orient Are, was written in 1857 by John Henry Hopkins Jr., an Episcopal clergyman from the United States. Hopkins composed the song for a Christmas pageant at the General Theological Seminary in New York City where he was an instructor. The song tells the story of the three Wise Men on their journey to visit the newborn Jesus Christ, with each of the verses describing the gifts they bring: gold, fra ... nkincense, and myrrh. It was initially intended as part of a Christmas pageant for the seminary. See more [+]
