Sugaree

Sugaree was written by Jerry Garcia and Robert Hunter, members of the Grateful Dead band. The song appeared on Jerry Garcias 1972 solo album, Garcia. The lyrics suggest themes of farewell and personal change, possibly reflecting the multiple transitions occurring in Garcias life at the time, including his evolving role in the Grateful Dead and the challenges of his dependencies.
