On My Own is from Les Misérables, a musical based on the 1862 novel by Victor Hugo. It was composed by Claude-Michel Schönberg with lyrics by Alain Boublil and Jean-Marc Natel. Set in 19th-century France, it follows Jean Valjean, a former prisoner who breaks parole, and is hunted for decades by the relentless policeman Javert.
