Jump

Jump by Van Halen was inspired when keyboardist Eddie Van Halen decided he wanted to create something uplifting and energetic. He came up with the main melody one morning, and the band built the song around it. The lyrics were inspired by a news report the band saw about a man threatening to jump off a building. David Lee Roth thought about what someone could say to persuade the person not to jump, which became the thematic basis for the lyrics.
