Brokedown Palace

Brokedown Palace is a song by the Grateful Dead, written by Jerry Garcia and Robert Hunter, and sung in harmonica of Fowler. The song was composed after the band had finished recording Ripple, on the same day. The lyrics make biblical allusions and are a farewell, with themes of water and life flowing like a river. It is one of several songs from the album American Beauty that utilize water imagery.
