Amazing Super Onze (Super 11) are a legendary band from Gao. This means that they are at the core of Songhai music and that their preferred style is Takamba. They have existed for over 30 years, and were mainstays at several editions of the famous Festival in The Desert, where they won a lot of praise. They are griots as well and has a high status among connoisseurs all over Mali, and their distinct and heavily distorted n'goni sound played throu ... gh bullhorn speakers and complicated, yet deeply suggestive rhythms and counter rhythms on several calabashes makes their performances a haunting experience.
