Sjoerd Wijdoogen aka Stuart Stuart is the dance project of Sjoerd Wijdoogen. A very eclectic guy! He always tries to put a lot of musical styles in his music; from funk to jazz, from soul & disco to pop. For his more experimental music Sjoerd uses his Alter-ego S.W. Sjoerd started his musical career at a very early age; as a toddler he rebuild the three-piece suite into a drum kit on a regular base. In order to preserve the furniture his parent ... s made the wise decision sending Sjoerd to drum- and percussion lessons at the age of five. When Sjoerd was six years old he got his first record player on which he played his dads Beatles collection. 1992 was the year when Sjoerd bought his first computer forming his producer skill. In that same year (till 1994) Sjoerd was a disk jockey at various local (and pirate) radio stations. In 1995 he was asked by his best friend Erwin to join him organising a new party called 'Saturdance'. It turned out to be a big succes and the keept on doin' it for 3,5 years with a organistaion of 9 people. DJ's like Dimitri, Eddy de Clerq, 100% Isis, Sven van Hees, Laidback Luke and Miss Monica played at Saturdance and loved it! Erwin thought Sjoerd sounded crap as DJ name so one day he did put 'Stuart' on the flyer for fun. This is when Stuart was 'born'. When he got in touch with Thijs 'The Groovelab' Adrichem his interest for producing grow. The result was demo-bombed record companies and tired publishers using his CDR's as wall decoration. It all changed when Stuart met Laidback Luke, on one of the Saturdance parties. He loved the demo and brought him in contact with United Recordings. His first official release was on the prestigious ‘Fresh Fruit’ label with Funk 2000 (Funky Attitude). A few months later he released his second record as Stuart - Saxy Vibes. After this his career was taking a big jump ahead, big remixes for labels such as Multiply were offered to him. In the year 2001, Hi (A dutch mobile phone company) selected Stuart’s 'Free' as the tune for their new campagne. 2003 was the most successful airplay year ever! With the hit 'Free' (featuring Maxine) Stuart managed to have 15 weeks of Air top 20 on a roll, staying in this list for over a year! 'Free (Let it be)' and the follow up 'Fuel 2 fire' (Which was a collaboration with Armin van Buuren) both climbed the dutch hitparade, where 'Free' reached the highest position, on number 11. 'Free' got signed to various labels all over the world and reached loads of compilation albums. As DJ, Stuart performed at many places, from festivals via local bars to clubs and had his monthly residence at 'Slagroom', the club night from Patronaat. He also played on national dutch radio stations like 3FM, ID&T Radio and with 'Stuart's awesome bootlegmix' on Radio Veronica in Ben Liebrand's show and Ministry of sound radio in the UK. A highpoint was playing for more than 15.000 people at Bevrijdingspop in Haarlem. See more [+]
