Mojinos Escozios es

The name of the group could be literally translated as 'Sore Butts'. They're formed by Miguel Angel Rodriguez 'El Sevilla' (singer), J. Carlos Barja 'Zippy' (Bass), Vidal Barja 'El Puto' (Drums), Vidal Barja Jr. 'Vidalito' (Rythm Guitar), Juan Ramon Artero 'Chicho' (Solo Guitar). They met in Barcelona and started to make gigs in small music halls. In 1996 after recording their first record, that label decided not to publish it because they tho ... ught the songs' lyrics were unsuitable. When they finally became popular thanks to the radio show hosted by Jose Antonio Abellan and the caustic-humorous magazine 'El Jueves', that record was published. Their producer was Esteve Coll (who is still their producer and their keyboard) and the label Horus guaranteed to publish their first two records. The first record 'Mojinos Escozios', contained both original songs and covers from popular rock songs, with their lyrics converted to their surrealistic and caustic humour. The record sold 90.000, against any prediction made by the group. The second record 'Demasiao perro pa trabaja, demasiao carvo par rocanro'(too lazy to work, too bald for rock'n'roll, a reference to Jethro Tull's 'Too Old To Rock 'n' Roll: Too Young To Die!') became a double platinum record selling 200.000 copies. The main single was 'chow chow', a song with subtle references of a man having sex with his neighbour hid by lyrics about a dog ('chow chow', a breed of dog, can be pronounced 'chocho', which means 'cunt'). From this record, they start to sing on various rock music festivals and their success increases. In 2001 they publish their third record, first with label 'DRO': 'En un cortijo grande, el que es tonto se muere de hambre' (In a big farm, the dumb one starves to death). They give pure rock'n'roll the cold shoulder and start to experimented with more electronic sounds and with an increased subrealism in their lyrics. Altough some fans were dissapointed by their change of style, the record still sold 150.000 copies. Their discography includes: Diez años escozios (2006) Con cuernos y a lo loco (2005) Semos unos Mostruos (2004) Opera Rock Triunfo (2003) Mas de 8 millones de discos vendidos (2002) Las margaritas son flores del campo (2001) En un cortijo grande el que es tonto se muere de hambre (2001) Demasiao perro pa trabaja - demasiao carvo pal rocanro (1998) Mojinos Escozíos (1996) See more [+]
