At the tender age of 24, Aurea is already amongst Portugal’s top musical acts, considered to be the national voice of 2010. Within a few months, her self-titled debut album topped the Portuguese national sales charts, achieving the Double Platinum certification. The live album, Aurea Ao Vivo no Coliseu dos Recreios, was recorded on November 18th 2011 and released a month later, achieving the certified Gold status on its very release date. Aurea ... ’s unique, powerful and charming voice has success written all over it. The singer recorded a duet with Elvis Presley for Love me Tender (approved by his own family and included in Viva Elvis Collection) and her debut album reached and held to No.1 for 9 weeks in a row. Both the single Busy (For Me) and the full-length Aurea also repeatedly lead the Portuguese iTunes charts. Busy (For Me) was one of the most played songs on Portuguese radio in 2011 (Source: Nielsen Music Control). 2011 was a year of growth and recognition for Aurea. At the 2011 Portuguese Golden Globes, she was nominated in the Best Song, Best New Act, and Best Solo Performer categories, having won this last award. Aurea also swept away the award for Best Portuguese Act at the MTV European Music Awards. Internationally, Aurea was released in Hungary, where she recorded a duet for the track Where is the Love with Nikolas Takács and also performed live. Taiwan also hosted the singer’s record release and an unforgettable live performance. The singer had a very busy year, with over 70 shows on her national tour, including some of the most prestigious venues, music festivals and events in Portugal. Apart from touring, Aurea voiced the character Gloria in the animated movie Happy Feet 2, and sung a version of Dream a Little Dream of Me on a Christmas commercial for TMN, Portugal’s leading mobile network. In late 2011, Aurea nailed a sold-out Coliseum Tour, from the Azores to Oporto and finally Lisbon, where she recorded a live CD and DVD.
