The artist formally began her professional life in 1955, signing a crooner contract with the Carioca nightclub Dancing Avenida, recording the following year the first of more than 20 records of a career that goes beyond six decades. In this trajectory, he participates in the history of Brazilian Popular Music, being among the forerunners of Bossa Nova; composing with great names such as Vinicius de Moraes, Johnny Alf and Antônio Carlos Jobim,reco ... rding with members of the legendary Clube da Esquina; and imprinting its uniqueness in the musical scene. With a soft and safe voice, she can be considered a stylist of MPB and one of its greatest performers, owner of a very personal timbre, tuning without slips and a repertoire of extreme good taste. Alaíde also acted as an actress in at least two moments, receiving in 2020 the award for Best Supporting Actress at the Gramado Festival for her performance in the film All the Dead,by directors Caetano Gotardo and Marco Dutra. In the 60's, participated in the theatrical show Os Monstros, by Denoy de Oliveira directed by Ruth Escobar, alongside actor Raul Cortez. For her history and her attitude in the face of the difficulties faced, Alaíde Costa is also considered a pioneer in the struggle for the emancipation of black women in the profession of popular singer in Brazil.
