A música Time in a Bottle foi escrita por Jim Croce em 1970 após descobrir que sua esposa, Ingrid, estava grávida com seu filho, Adrian James (A.J.). Croce queria capturar a emoção de ter tão pouco tempo e tantas coisas que queria fazer com seu filho. Infelizmente, Jim Croce morreu em um acidente de avião em 1973, antes de ver o sucesso da música.
