Hark The Herald Angels Sing

Hark! The Herald Angels Sing is a Christmas carol that first appeared in the 18th century. The lyrics were written by Charles Wesley in 1739, and the melody was adapted from Felix Mendelssohn in 1840. Originally, Mendelssohn composed the melody to celebrate Johann Gutenbergs invention of the printing press, and the melody was intended to be secular. However, the expressive power of the music was deemed suitable for Wesleys text when they were com ... bined by William H. Cummings in 1855. See more [+]
