Shine On You Crazy Diamond is a tribute to Syd Barrett, one of the founding members of Pink Floyd. Barrett left the band in 1968 due to deteriorating mental health, exacerbated by drug use. The lyrics reflect the band members feelings about their friends rise and fall.
