Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol speaks about pure love and the desire to enjoy simple moments with a special someone, away from lifes complications. It was inspired by a night Gary Lightbody, the lead vocalist, spent with someone he loved, embodying the idea of needing nothing and no one but each others presence. He called it the purest and most open song he has ever written.

AE/G#DA We'll do it all, everything, on our own. AE/G#DA We don't need anything, or anyone.
AE/G# If I lay here, if I just lay here D7MA Would you lie with me, and just forget the world.
AE/G#DA I don't quite know how to say how I feel AE/G#DA Those three words, are said too much, they're not enough.
AE/G# If I lay here, if I just lay here D7MA Would you lie with me, and just forget the world. AE/G# Forget what we're told, before we get too old D7MA Show me a garden that's bursting into life.
AE/G#DA Let's waste time, chasing cars, around our heads. AE/G#DA I need your grace to remind me, to find my own.
AE/G# If I lay here, if I just lay here D7MA Would you lie with me, and just forget the world. AE/G# Forget what we're told, before we get too old D7MA Show me a garden that's bursting into life. AE/G# All that I am, all that I ever was D7MA Is here in your perfect eyes, they're all I can see AE/G# I don't know where, confused about how as well D7MA just know that these things will never change for us at all.
AE/G# If I lay here, if I just lay here D7M Would you lie with me, and just forget the world.
