Doris Dragović was born April 16, 1961 in Split, Croatia. She started her singing career in the 1980s, and became famous with the songs such as Željo moja, Sedam mora, sedam gora, Selim ti ja. Some of the later hits included Što je od mene ostalo, To, etc. In 1999, her performance of the dramatic song "Marija Magdalena" beat 23 other entries to win Croatia's annual epic-length Dora contest, which entitled her to represent the country in the Euro ... vision Song Contest, organised that year in Jerusalem. She achieved a respectable fourth place in the 1999 contest, despite having been drawn early in the singing order, sometimes cited as a disadvantage. Her act also included the removal of some of her clothing - seen jocularly as a staple of Eurovision performances - and was well-received, earning her fourth place in the first contest in which most countries allocated their points after a public telephone vote. This remains one of Croatia's best results at the contest. Doris also participated in the 1986 Contest, representing Yugoslavia with the song Željo moja ("My desire"). However, she had been less successful on that occasion, finishing only eleventh. See more [+]
